Write a short summary of what happens in the film
Ahmed Fahmy (Egypt’s top comedic actor) appears to indecisive people in Ramadan & starts to sing about their struggles while choosing what to eat in Ramadan. He impersonates and lip syncs to the voice of three singers.
He first appears to a guy who can‘t decide how many sandwiches to get from a street cart. He starts to impersonate and sing to the voice of Abdel Basset Hamouda, Egypt’s Top Country singer. He then appears to a couple at a pizza place and starts to rap about how hard it is to choose pizza topping to the voice of Zap Tharwat Egypt’s top rapper. Finally he appears to a family on a dinning table as one of Egypt’s most iconic 90’s pop stars imitating one of his most iconic music videos which was shot in reverse. He sings about the hardships we face when deciding what to eat during Iftar.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
In Ramadan food is the only thing on our minds, day and night. And since we only eat twice a day (Iftar & Sohour) every meal requires a lot of planing, because you usually regret missing out on a lot of things when you wake up in the morning. This kind of indecisiveness haunts us before every single meal for the whole month of Ramadan.
Each of the three singers we hear in the ad represents a different kind of Egyptian food. The Iconic 90’s pop star represents family gatherings and home made meals. The Rapper represents those who go for the untraditional Ramadan food like Egyptian Pizza or “Feteer.” And the “Sha3by” Singer (Country Music) represents street food.
Tell the jury about the creation of the original music track.
This piece has been composed with 3 parts seamlessly stitched together to create one memorable track. Each part is sung by a different artist from a different genre. And since the whole song was lip synced by a different celebrity we created each part to match the original artist’s unique style, that people know and love. This unique mix is what made this track go viral last Ramadan and was trending at #1 on Anghami.
