Write a short summary of what happens in the film
To launch the third season of the number one Netflix show in Saudi Arabia - La Casa De Papel, we tapped into the fandom. A mockumentary style film that takes us into the home of the self-proclaimed “Biggest La Casa De Papel” fan in Saudi whose fandom is now teetering dangerously on the brink of obsession. She’s got every piece of memorabilia a true fan would have, and more. She knows every intricate detail about the show, and has a crazy, but well researched, fan theory about the Season 2 cliffhanger that everyone in Saudi and on Reddit has been talking about for months. Contrary to popular belief, and irrefutable proof (massive shootout that no one could survive), she’s convinced that she’s right. And she has a war room to prove it. But that’s not all she has...
Cultural / Context information for the jury
La Casa De Papel, also known as Money Heist in other regions is hugely popular in Saudi. So much so that the country gets a shoutout in Season 3 purely because of the fandom. In the show each character has a city name as an alias, so our fan likes to be known as Jeddah (Saudi’s second city).
The actress we chose is a well known Saudi content creator - Darin Al Bayad. She is a true fan of the show and plays an exaggerated version of herself in the film.
Provide the full film script in English.
We follow the story of the biggest La Casa De Papel Fan (LCDP) fan in Saudi, Darin. The film is shot documentary style, with intercuts of her talking to camera and taking us through her house, which is like a shrine for all things LCDP. But her obsession has a dark side. She believes that Berlin is alive and she’s willing to do anything to prove it.

NETFLIX PRESENTS
THE BIGGEST LA CASA DE PAPEL FAN
DARIN AKA JEDDAH
CUT TO Darin in her living room. Behind her is a library filled with all kinds of memorabilia.
Darin: My name is Darin. I’m the biggest La Casa De Papel Fan in the world. I’ve watched every episode at least 30 times. Pretty sure that’s a world record.
Intercuts with glimpses of her crazy side.
CUT TO close shot of Darin talking to someone off camera.
Darin: Would you like me to recite an episode for you?
We see shots of her collection, everything is red, everything is La Casa.
CUT TO Darin holding an original storyboard from the show.
Darin: I got this when I went to the set of La Casa. They didn’t let me in.
But once they finished, I stole it!
She is slowly starting to sound crazier.
CUT TO Darin in the kitchen. Even her kitchen is LA Casa themed.
Darin: People say I’m crazy. I think crazy is a strong word.
Crew member off camera asks her about her favourite piece:
Darin: My favourite piece? It’s impossible to pick one.
CUT TO Darin standing next to a replica of the Royal Mint of Spain. It’s exactly like the one the Professor uses in the show.
Darin: THIS! It’s definitely my favourite. I built it with my own hands, piece by piece.
At this point the cameraman is getting too close. And Darin snaps.
Darin: HEY! Don’t you dare get any closer!
Intercut with more of Darin’s crazy side. She’s speaking to herself again.
CUT TO Darin with a picture of Berlin, she’s emotional.
Darin: When Berlin died in the show, I felt like I lost my brother.
CUT TO shot of Berlin dying in the show. He’s riddled with bullets and very much dead.
Darin:
But he’s not dead!
She is now excited and asks the cameraman to follow her.
Darin: Come, let me show you the evidence.
The camera follows her into a dingy room. We see a wall of what looks like a mad detective’s research. We’ve all seen this in movies. Except this is crazier. There’s a lot pinned up on the wall – news articles about the show, prints from different websites, various pictures of the actor that plays Berlin, some from the show, some spotted in the real world. There are some red strings connecting articles to pictures and maps, etc.
Darin shows off her research proudly.
Darin: One whole year! That’s how long I’ve been investigating Berlin.
We see different shots of her room, with her VO explaining what she’s been up to.
Darin: Watching his every move. Collecting his pics from all over the world.
She’s starting to sound crazier.
Darin: Berlin is definitely ALIVE!
CUT TO Darin holding a marker pointing to a picture of Berlin on her crazy research wall. She is speaking frantically now, sounding crazier with each line.
Darin: Look it’s Berlin! At the airport and he’s not dead!
More cuts of her crazy side. Mumbling to herself.
No one believes me...
Do you have an explanation for him being in the new trailer? That’s what I thought.
She does a mic drop.
CUT TO Darin screaming in excitement as she remembers something super important.
Darin: Oh how could I forget!? The finest piece from my collection!
She snaps open a cupboard. And we see a young woman sitting inside, dressed like a hostage from the show.
Darin: Meet my real hostage! She even speaks Spanish.
Hostage waves nervously at the camera and says Hola!
Things have gotten way too weird now. The crew doesn’t know what to do. Darin has the craziest look on her face.
