Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The film showcases the reasons behind the creation of a not-for-profit healthcare centre and and explains why and how the idea of 'Own a Brick' came to being. The film reveals how Own a Brick helped raise the funds with people owning bricks, each worth 1000 Dirhams; and how it managed to raise 17 million dirhams to build a medical centre for people who cannot afford quality healthcare services in the UAE. The film includes testimonials of real patients and shows benefits of the healthcare centre availed by the needy. The film is all about how the warmth of an idea sheds light on the need of the hour, and how communities come together to help each other.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
The leadership of the UAE have placed a very high importance to tolerance as a Government policy. It is one of the deep-rooted values in the genuine community of UAE, which are derived from the moderation of the True Islam, the noble Arab customs and traditions, and from the wisdom and legacy of Sheikh Zayed, the father of the nation. Tolerance is so important for the UAE, that there is even a dedicated Ministry of Tolerance. In fact, the foundation stone of the healthcare centre was laid by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Tolerance. The Pakistani Community in UAE is one of the largest expat communities in the country. And this film highlights the fact about how one community lends a helping hand to the needy - a true reflection of tolerance advocated by the leaders in the UAE.
