Virginity tests have been labelled a violation of human rights against women by the United Nations since 2018. But under the Moroccan Penal Code, Article 488 is a law that does not yet provide effective protection against rape if a woman cannot prove that she was a virgin before the crime occurred.

The book is beautifully illustrated in a children’s book style, but it challenges controversial issues that are far from being childish topics. More than 60 pages or tri-chromatic illustrations, that represent the archaic terms that society has imposed on women. Red, white, black. Powerful contrast and minimalistic shapes, but carrying a powerful message, where the metaphoric meaning of the illustrations blends together with clean and impactful graphic design.
