Brief Explanation
A series of films featuring community members from different regions in Lebanon, namely Beirut, Ashrafieh, Zahleh and the North, challenging each other for Khoury Home's appliances during the company's Black Friday sales. In the first round of films (2016), our heroes "flex their muscles" and warn each other to back off from the sales using funny local idioms and sayings. In this year's films (2017), the challenges take the form of a rap battle and Zajal, a traditional type of oral poetry which is popular in Lebanon and which is delivered in a competitive format. In Zajal battles, participants respond to one another's poems- this structure was ideal for the purposes of our campaign, in which the films are linked and the characters are in dialogue with one another.
