Brief Explanation
The challenge was to develop physical representation of what the Khalifa Port is all about, a place where clients, partners, investors and future employees can experience this exciting world.
The objectives:
- To showcase the cutting edge semi-automated operation at Khalifa Port.
- To be able to communicate to visitors and students how the terminal works.
- To connect the terminal to the local heritage of Abu Dhabi.
The Brief
Abu Dhabi Terminals is the operator of the first semi-automated container terminal in the region. They were looking for new ways to tell the story of Khalifa Port Container Terminal to connect with its
audiences; shipping lines, industry partners, government and future employees.
How the final design was conceived
The agency dived into Abu Dhabi Terminal’s world of container terminals to find a unique
proposition which is relevant to Abu Dhabi Terminal’s target audiences.
CONTINUITY AND TRANSFORMATION is the guiding principle that steers the story lines,
all design and branding tools. It is consistently translated in the iconic interior design, the kinetic graphical language and the cutting-edge inter actives. The main visual element of the lines represents the continuos movement of trade through history and geography. The changes in direction shows the innovations needed to move forward; innovation at the heart of Abu Dhabi and Khalifa Port Container Terminal.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The visitor center has been officially opened on September 1st 2013. It is utilised as a new tool to introduce Khalifa Port Container Terminal to clients, governments and Emirati students. This iconic experience allows Abu Dhabi Terminals to deepen customer relationships by telling Abu Dhabi Terminals' story in an interactive manner and 'wow' the audience. The real-time application is the hero of the visitor centre, where containers are followed live through the process and relevant information on the container handled can be called by the touch of a screen.
