Results and Effectiveness

The result is impressive. We knew that Tunisians would gather when the live comedy would be performed. Indeed Tunisians got involved and some participated by helping the man. The video of the event made a huge buzz in a couple of days with more than 21,000 shares on facebook, and dozens of articles on the Web and in the press.

Creative Execution

The idea: The title of the festival means that the city of Tunis is performing comedy acts. So we decided to take this statement literally and show bits of comedy in the everyday life of Tunisians. We believed that in order to make people come to the theatre, the theatre had to come to the people and engage with them in unusual ways. The first act of this guerrilla action took place the 26th of December 2012 in a crowded street of Tunis. More live performances will happen over the next months.

Insights, Strategy and the Idea

The context: « Tunis Fait Sa Comédie » is a drama festival dedicated to comedy. It takes place in the Theatre Municipal, the historical theatre of Tunis where productions are performed during a couple of months. Tunisie Telecom, the main Tunisian telecommunications operator, is the major sponsor of the festival which launched end of December 2012 its 5th edition. The problem: Despite the well known sense of humour of Tunisians which revealed mainly on Facebook after the Revolution, this festival remains underestimated by the majority of Tunisians living in the capital and its suburbs. Furthermore, most people consider theatre as an entertainment for some happy few and definitely not for them.
