Brief Explanation
Sharjah TV had been quietly broadcasting since 1989 within the United Arab Emirates, and to Arab audiences across the globe. Determined to respond to growing competition from across the region, the station set about creating a new parent organisation and a completely re-engineered TV station.
The Brief
Sharjah TV's brief to Lambie-Nairn was to create a brand that would reach a new audience through the family unit, reflecting a modernised programming grid whilst staying true to its heritage and responsibilities as a public service broadcaster.
How the final design was conceived
We began with a brand positioning that intertwined two characteristics of the broadcaster and Emirate together: Creativity: Sharjah’s ability to create, produce and manufacture from within; and Continuity: the station’s role in connecting communities as well as the passing on of skills and knowledge for future prosperity.
We brought the branding to life with a full on-screen identity including news package and online and printed applications. We also created the identity for the new corporate parent organisation, Sharjah Media Corporation.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation, said: “Our new branding and programme grid is proof of Sharjah TV’s intention to remain among the top public service broadcasters in the Middle East. Lambie-Nairn proved their ability to understand our heritage and future vision, and our partnership with them has helped us evolve the channel and Corporation in line with the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi.”
