An Nahar is the leading daily, Arabic language newspaper in Lebanon. It has a long history of standing up for the people in the face of political corruption. The paper has been banned in the past, but has always found a way to deliver its news to the people. Gebran Tueini, grandson of the papers founder and editor-in-chief from 2003-2005, was assassinated in 2005 for his fierce criticism of outside influencer in Lebanon. The paper continued in his memory and is seen a leading source of hard hitting, courageous reporting.
