Brief Explanation
Our video challenges the role of females in Arab society. Ascia was the first and is the most popular fashion blogger in the region. Although she quickly rose to fame, both Ascia and her husband Ahmed had to face negative and damaging commentary. Ahmed was constantly criticized by readers and family members for not being “in control” of his wife and allowing her to be outspoken, forward thinking and so public. In a culture where women are often told to be subordinate to their husbands, Ahmed publicly took a stance to support his wife's bold decisions. Despite his encouragement, the couple never spoke to one another about the toll this was taking on their marriage. Often, it is hardest to #OpenUp to the ones that are the closest to you, so Coca-Cola helped Ascia do just that.
