Brief Explanation

We all possess different items in our home, items that can be forgotten, neglected or we simply just grow out of love with. But what if those items could have a happy home to go, where they are loved and useful again. Letting go can be hard, but it's time to move on. You need a place where thousands of people can meet and make an exchange. This place is called dubizzle. dubizzle is a classifieds website that allows users to sell and buy things that they no longer need and go on to get the things they want. Giving them and their items a chance at a happy ending. This is the story of dubizzle.

Creative Execution

After deciding on the story, it was converted into an animation script from which the storyboard was derived. The next process was to decide on the character and prop design from a variety of angles, poses and expressions which determined the art style and colour scheme. A main character was determined to represent dubizzle and keep the story in pace. These assets were created on Adobe Illustrator. The sequence of illustrations were put together to indicate transitions, camera angles and framing. A scratch track was recorded so that the animation may be precisely synchronised to the soundtrack. After that, 2-D animatics were created on Adobe After effects, animating detailed characters and objects, creating animation loops that help for repetitive motions. The camera angles, paths, lighting and shading were determined while animating the different scenes. For the ending, we filmed dubizzle users from around the MENA region being themselves, against a green screen using a Canon 550D. This was done in order to show what they buy and sell. After it was colour corrected on After Effects, they were inserted into the animation. A complete soundtrack is then added featuring music, sound effects and dialogue by voice actors in post production.
