The Lebanese, who are known for their unwavering spirit of resilience in front of adversity, had recently given up hope in their country for the first time. We needed to remind the Lebanese of what they were made of. The campaign film was conceived entirely as a fable where a resilient flame defies a menacing storm. A battle of symbolic elements whereby the flame fends off increasing and incessant attacks of a storm jealous of its opponent’s courage. Triumphant, the flame finally says ‘Storms shall always pass but the fire inside burns on’. The script, written as a fable, delivers with mysticism and intimacy the fierce battle opposing the two enemies.
Creative Execution
A nation’s biggest failure is when it forgets what it’s capable of. In 2014, a dark cloud loomed over Lebanon once more. Media outlets competed to paint a dark vision of the future, and the people followed suit. The Lebanese were forgetting what they’re truly capable of, and we made it our mission to remind them.
In past chapters of the Keep Walking Lebanon communications, we aimed to inspire the nation through a Lebanese icon’s journey of progress in Lebanon. In the 2014 chapter of the Keep Walking Lebanon project we were not able to find one individual who could best bring the brand mantra to life but rather it was the Lebanese spirit, found in all those who have stayed to face the hardships that needed to be celebrated. This approach represented a challenge, as it was the first time, in Lebanon, we steered away from a celebrity endorsement and told the story of a nation through a fable approach.
