Brief Explanation
The illustration must cover many types of areas within the city that will help them promote their services to their prospective clients. For example, sports stadiums, sporting events etc.
The challenge was to be able to build a unique illustrative interpretation of these landmarks, events and areas which would be both appealing to clients and would work when viewed close up or as a full cohesive and structured world.
The illustration style must be fun, unique and have broad appeal.
The Brief
After our agency designed and deployed the Rise brand we were then approached to help them create a unique and inspiring illustrated world/map of Dubai. This would help them promote their sports and marketing services in a fun and new way within the context of Dubai, the UAE and the wider Middle East.
The map would be tailored to specific clients needs by adding in relevant words on certain areas as required. The idea being that Rise could travel around the world zooming in on key features, which would create a unique platform for discussing the clients challenge and how it could be met.
How the final design was conceived
We developed a bright, textured and graphic illustration style which when viewed in full would present a unique and colourful take on Dubai, which when viewed close-up would present a textured and detailed summary of each location.
Each location has been individually considered and reduced down to it's most simplest forms and ideas without losing any of the meaning.
The style is predominately 2D, with 3D highlights for shadows to give it extra depth.
The overall tone of voice is fun, surprising and youthful.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The Rise world/map illustration was internally extremely well received, as it gave partners and staff alike a new and unique way to sell fresh ideas to new and existing clients.
We look forward to hearing soon how the map has proven commercially once it has had a chance to be implemented over new pitches, existing clients and unknown opportunities yet to come.
Rise is a new sports and marketing agency based in Dubai. The two partners took their combined experience of many years to form a new approach to sports marketing that brings a more open, youthful and fun approach to the sector.
