Brief Explanation

The goal was to develop a inspiring and informative customer journey, that would relay the brand story through a series of sensory touch points to enable a understanding of Kizad benefits, master plan amenities and infrastructure. The designs proposed creation of a open space and use of mix media and graphics to animate the customer journey, but key challenge at onset was that facilities had to be housed in an existing prefabricated building and initial constraints restricted demolition of the existing structure.

The Brief

As an Industrial Zone of unprecedented scale, ambition and vision, Kizad, a key component of Abu Dhabi Plan 2030, will be a world class Industrial Zone and manufacturing hub, providing outstanding services and infrastructure. To build relationships with their regional stakeholders and global audiences required creation of a Visitor Center and One Stop Shop, a distinctive, premium brand experience representative of the organizations driving principle “Transforming Industrial Zone. As Kizad is in preliminary phase of infrastructure development, experiential center brief required a design to communicate the scale, vision and pioneering approach to master planning and bring vision of Kizad to life.

How the final design was conceived

Design development and exploration showcasing the customer journey experience mapping and space planning included layout plan and messaging content developed in parallel to the architectural concepts. Experiential content consideration ensured a bespoke brand led 3 dimensional environment was created. Customer journey and planning incorporated interactive content, ensuring the customer journey was intuitive. Use of a circular scheme inspired by Kizad Brand Identity to develop key feature within the Visitor Center, choice of materials, colors, finishes and furnishing brought a modern, clean industrial design scheme which was extended beyond Visitor Center, OSS into design of offices and staff recreational areas.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

Officially operation since November 10, 2011, the Visitor Center has already hosted several official international delegations visiting the UAE, international prospects and regional stakeholders. Since the Industrial Zone is still in its early days, the One Stop Shop is not yet inundated with clients, but success of the design has been proven with the large number of staff who have brought their family and friends in to see the visitor center, a source of pride for Kizad.
