Brief Explanation

The Official eGovernment Services Portal (www.oman.om) was launched in 2009 but it did not have an identity that can make it recognizable. The new brand 'Omanuna' has been inspired from the leadership position of Oman in openness and knowledge. Putting these two elements on a platform of innovation, the outcome will have a distinctive brand that does what it promises; openness for the people of Oman to a world of knowledge.

The Brief

ITA is responsible for implementing national IT infrastructure projects and supervising all projects related to implementation of the Digital Oman Strategy while providing professional leadership to various other e-Governance initiatives of the Sultanate. ITA serves as a competency center on best practices in e-Governance and in harnessing Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), thereby offering efficient and timely services, integrating processes and improving efficiency in service delivery. ITA undertakes several projects to increase technology penetration and empower its people with required digital literacy and higher levels of competence through training and innovation centers.

How the final design was conceived

After analyzing the hits and after determining the purpose of the Official eGovernment Services Portal, we came to realize that the brand requires to be people friendly. We wanted to be close to the people during their life. Sailing takes you from point A to Z and the propeller like the portal is your direction in life. After applying the new brand to the Portal, the hits ever since have increased and goverment eservices became more user friendly.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

After the re-branding of Omanuna we have managed to secure a higher number of hits. We have also been able to receive some feedback on the surfing of actual government services and how user friendly it has become. This is also the only portal in Oman whereby people can actually enter government services. We like to think of our portal as your guide in life and through the sail icon you have reached your only destination for services in Oman.
