Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The film begins with a close up shot of water, fully covered and flooded by garbage. A boy wearing swimming goggles rises from under the water. The film cuts to a closeup of man holding a stopwatch, where he is obviously timing his son swimming in their house pool. As they continue their conversation, We cut back to the man, who is drinking the last sip of juice carton, while squishing the package in his hand, and throwing it in the pool, treating it like a garbage dispenser. We then cut to a black screen revealing the message, “What you don’t accept inside of your home, do not inflict on your environment…NO to waste pollution.” The film then resumes showcasing the house help dispensing the garbage bin inside the pool, as the father and son continue their conversation, followed by him joining the boy in the pool.
Cultural / Context information for the jury
In Saudi Arabia, most houses have private family pools, which is considered an integral part of their homes. The choice of the location is integral to understanding the reference to a part of the home that most families use, making it as common as a dining or living room for the time spent with other members of the family. Also, waste pollution is considered to being a major environment crisis, that is heavily impacting local water production, as well as increasing the endangerment of marine and sea living organisms.
