After the 2018 painful hike in taxes, Jordanians were forced to tighten their belts. For marketers, it was discount time. As for consumers, it was time to haggle over the price of everything. These were tough times for Toyota, They had to show that their prices were already haggled for, mercilessly. so we gave them street haggling tips in a book to become a class A hagglers.

Haggling 101 with Um Khaled From Markazia Toyota 3. The Weak Point Look at the broken part of the glass. Not everything’s perfect, but let’s embrace that! Every flaw equals a potential discount. Why buy something perfect when you can buy something cheap? 4. ‘I’ll leave & come back’ ?A tactic as old as time, and one that still works like a charm. Pretend like you’re unimpressed & say you’ll be back; no shop owner likes to lose a client. 9. Psychoanalysis Know who’s facing you! Study the salesperson’s body language, & use this knowledge to your advantage! When the salesperson starts breaking a sweat , know that he’s nervous & seize this opportunity to haggle hard! 10. Cash Talks When you sense that the salesperson is being nonchalant, show him the cash! This way you prove to him that you’re not here for fun & games and that you’re a serious buyer. 13.No means No! Conquer the haggling game by being stubborn, don’t budge when it comes to your asking price & stay headstrong about what you want. 14. Melodrama ‘ What did you say? Is that the actual price??’ Exaggerate with your reactions upon hearing of the price, pretend like it’s the first time you’ve come across such numbers. Acting lessons might be in order! Success Story: She got a 4000 JOD discount on the Prius! The Prius was priced at 26,990 JOD, after Um Khaled’s tactful attempts at haggling with tips like being melodramatic and ‘call you're superior’, she was able to drop the price by 4000 JOD bringing it down to 22,990 with licensing and registration.
