The sun and the water go back to a time when it was only them here.
The sun loved the sea, like no one else did.
Every day, she reached to light the deepest water of the sea, trying to warm the darkness. But her light always fell short and she became sad and hid.
Every night, after the sun set, the sea would miss her. Warmed by the sun’s heat and yearning to be close to her, the sea reached for the light of the moon, which he believed to be his sun.
And so it went, the sun sadly drifting from view, and the lonely sea, reaching for the sun’s light and chasing the moon.
Each night, they dance, waxing and waning, creating what we know as the tide.
