Brief Explanation

Manly mustached men in a run down table tennis hall singing a rewritten children’s song in a serious tone. The song highlights the Egyptian National team’s new line up, introducing the key players and their individual talents, in an effort to get the fans familiar with their new national team.

Execution

With everything related to the African Cup being under the competition’s sponsorship, the director was faced with many challenges to be able to create an impactful ad. The director’s vision was to put the viewer amongst the real fans, and share with them something only the official sponsor of the Egyptian fans can. A run-down table tennis hall was his chosen backdrop coupled with the choice of manly mustached serious men in a retro wardrobe. To give the anthem the weight it needed, the cast needed to have a high contrast with the type of song being sung. Manly men with serious expressions singing to a rewritten children’s song, giving the film a unique look and feel that immediately caught the viewer’s attention.
