The Campaign

Generosity is its Own Reward tells the story of a young Qatari boy's special relationship with his grandfather. The film begins by showing the close nature of their relationship while gradually bringing the viewer on an emotional rollercoaster as the boy begins to realise that something is not quite right with his Grandad. Children hear and see everything despite adult attempts to hide things from them. We see the family prepare for the Muslim holiday of Eid Al Fitr. Our hero notices his grandfathers absence and eventually realises that his Grandad has Cancer when he discovers a Qatar Cancer Society donation envelope. The young boy comes up with a plan to save his Grandfather. He recruits the help of his older brother to collect money from relatives during Eid al Fitr when its traditional for adults to give kids money. Instead of keeping the cash for themselves, in an act of pure love and selflessness, the boys donate all their cash to the Qatar Cancer Society. It demonstrates the lengths that a loving grandson will go in his efforts to support his grandfather's fight against Cancer. It is a story of family solidarity, Qatari values and the innocence of youth.
