The Campaign
The Shop Bahrain Festival had 3 important facets to it: shopping, celebration and entertainment. More importantly, it’s biggest objective was to bring a multitude of communities from the region together for a rich, culturally inclined experience.
The film was conceived to take the audience on a fantastical journey through all the experiences during the course of the festival. And the treatment of the film in this respect had a vital role to play. We employed the technique of ‘Paper Craft’ because it was the one material that’s commonly associated with shopping bags, festive decorations, gift boxes and wrapping paper creating a vibe of joyous celebration.
Adding to the visual journey, the film evolved in its animation style revealing a new experience with each progression, giving the audience something to look forward through the duration of the film.
Creative Execution
We used both Maya and 3DMAX. In order to achieve different effects.
For the beginning of the movie we needed a very strong realistic feeling, not to get confused if it was CGI or real. We wanted the audience to believe what they were seen so for that we needed the Arnold Render Engine, and Arnold is associated with Maya as a software in a better way.
For the rest of the movie we used 3D Max and a Vray Render Engine, the results are excellent too but it is faster to work this scenes in 3D Max.
After-effects were used for comping to achieve some grading and VFX like lighting and final tuning.
