The Campaign
This film is about the life we choose to live, and the fights we choose to pick. It is about our experiences along the way - the friends we meet, the family we love, and the city that surrounds us. It is about the human soul and the "megasoul" of the city we live in - the collective heart of the land.
In the film we meet people like you and me - authentic, likeable people, living and enjoying their journey. They are expressing themselves through sports, work and play, in the big wonderful drama of everyday life.
Only towards the end it's revealed that they have a disability and we realize that they have already won their fight: to excel at sport, to inspire others, to be successful at work or just to hang out and live a great childhood, but most importantly to make everyone see their potential as people rather than the disability.
Creative Execution
The beauty of this film lies in the fact that we tried to stay true to these people who are allowing us to show the world their stories. This is not a commercial for which you can simply send out a casting brief and expect a variety of options. We had to search for real people who not only fit the client’s requirements to cover certain demographics and the five different types of disabilities, but people with interesting stories to tell. While it is a very rewarding process it is also very time consuming and the final stories and hence storyboards and locations and other production requirements, was continually a work in progress till the last prep day. The story was organically pieced together as we got to know the characters and as the director thought of more ideas of how to include different facets of their lives. Planning initially on a two day shoot, production not only had to find new last-minute options of locations to accommodate an ever growing demand for different scenes, but also had to add two additional light days of shoot with a reduced crew in order to cover the variety of scenes.
