Brief Explanation

We all have wild ideas and dreams stashed away in a corner of our minds, or in a drawer somewhere. Unfortunately, these ideas would, more than often, remain in the dark. Not anymore. Now all your ambitions can see the light thanks to the support of Qatar National Bank, the strongest bank in the world as voted by Bloomberg.

Creative Execution

The film was shot on anamorphic lenses. During the shooting all the measurement for the 3D implementation and HDRI plates were taken to get the correct lighting. Big lens grid were produced in order to get the lens distortion right of the anamorphic Hawk lenses. In the next step pre-visualizations of the robots and the paper movement were built in 3D in order to know the space they would need on the shooting. During the shooting all lighting situations were captured through HDRI and the sets were measured in order to rebuild in 3D all kind of collision bodies for the paper move as well for the robot integration. In order to get the shadows, refractions and reflections correct, the set were partly rebuild in 3D. All kind of texture pictures were taken on the set during the shooting in order to make the look as photorealistic as possible. With undistorted shots the 3D started to build up the robots, the big scale blackboard and the paper swirl. Different simulation tools were used for the particle system of the organic paper flow and the illustrator for the blackboard physical content created an own chalk stroke, which worked for wide shots in the texture perception as well as for the close-up chalk. The robots were designed by a VFX production designer and the texture was painted from the stages of rust textures all the way the brand new ones. Flare lights and headlights helped the integration into the shots.
