The Brief

The target audience were VVIPs from the public and private sector. The launch of Windows 8 marked a significant milestone in Microsoft's corporate history. Microsoft Gulf organised a gala event to commemorate the occasion. An exclusive VVIP only ceremony was also a part of the launch celebrations. Since these select number of VVIPs included members of the Ruling Family, Ambassadors, CEOs and senior officials, Microsoft wanted a bespoke keepsake that embodied the significance of this momentous occasion and was worthy of the the stature of the distinguished guests.

Creative Execution

The original design that seamlessly incorporates brand elements to create a bespoke memento is a rarity in itself. Since Windows 8 offered a whole new experience, the key was the perfect metaphor to communicate the fact that one could unlock new potentials with this revolutionary operating system.

Describe the creative solution to the brief/objective.

We designed and produced a customized key with the digit ‘8’ as the ‘bow’ and the ‘4 square Windows logo graphic’ as the ‘bit’. It was truly a keepsake befitting a VVIP as the tradition of presenting a key signifies an important milestone or chapter. An engraved metal plaque detailed the significance of the memento. The overall objective of presenting a memento worthy of the occasion and its recepient was achieved. This keepsake was recognised as the best amongst all the mementos that were presented as part of Windows 8 launch events organised by Microsoft operations across the globe.

Results

All the VVIPs were personally invited for the occasion by a senior management member from Microsoft Gulf. The response and appreciation for the memento was very enthusiastic across all VVIPs.
