The Brief
Doha, host to 2012 UN Conference on Climate Change, will receive 194 countries, 17,000 delegates and more than 1,500 members of the global press to Doha. Required is a corporate identity that would unite delegates, leaders and the world in the fight against global warming. The international event will be a first for a Middle Eastern country.
How the final design was conceived
The concept was one of the very first ideas we had. The globe – a universally understood icon – is drawn with an unbroken, uniting line that connects the world. More than 100 sketches were produced to achieve a visual balance, look and fluidity to the logo. The typography had to be as concise and clear as possible.
Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
The world’s media spotlight was cast on Doha during the two-week event, the logo was seen across the globe, from news channels to websites, newspaper columns and magazines. The Conference Coordinator from the United Nations commented that the logo was the most iconic and memorable since Copenhagen.
