Brief Explanation
Make The Switch is a home-grown UAE initiative to increase awareness and promote the benefits of energy conservation and energy efficiency. The main goal of the initiative is to encourage the use of energy saving light bulbs within their homes.
Challenge:
To educate people who live in the region about the environmental circumstances of misusing the energy supply, thereby encouraging them to switch to CFL bulbs to conserve energy and as a result save money.
Solution:
The website was developed to support the campaign by providing interesting and informative content, and was designed for a broad target audience inclusive of all people in the UAE; families, individuals and companies alike.
To sustain user readership and interest once on the site, interactive tools are available such as a Progress Meter showing the number of bulbs sold so far; Lightbulb Factory, which is an application that compares CFL bulbs with three different lights to aid in their decision to buy; Switch Calculator that calculates money and energy saved, amount of reduced carbon emissions, and reduced mercury emissions.
